George Washington’s plantation on the banks of the beautiful Potomac River offers you a chance to understand America’s first hero and the fascinating world in which he lived. Purchased by the Mount Vernon Ladies’ Association in 1858, the mansion has gathered Washington objects, and researchers have used archaeology to piece together clues about the buildings and gardens of a bygone era. During this tour, you will visit the Ford Orientation Center and the Donald W. Reynolds Museum and Education Center, which showcases a collection of visual and interactive exhibits reflecting the life of the founding father. Next, you’ll tour the home of George and Martha Washington, then stop by their gardens and tombs.
