Basic Life Support Certification Presented by the American Heart Association Thursday, April 26 9 am - Noon or 2 - 5 pm (repeat session) As a veterinary professional, it’s important you are prepared to assist your customers and colleagues should a medical emergency arise. Following the same curriculum used to educate healthcare providers, this three-hour course and written test will train you in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and issue certification based on satisfactory completion. This course is open to all attendees registered for CVC Washington, D.C. Please RSVP via the registration form to secure your space (attendance is limited to 12 per session). VA-MD Alumni Reception Friday, April 27 7 - 9 pm (after Welcome Reception) Free to all CVC attendee alumni of the VA-MD Alumni United States Public Health Service Sessions Friday, April 27 8 am - 5:20 pm Cost: Included with Friday CVC registration Presented by the USPHS and open to all CVC-registered attendees, six hours of lectures on public health topics will include cancer, rabies, CDC regulations, agriculture, and more. The National Veterinary Accreditation Program: Supplemental Training Saturday, April 28 8 am- 6 pm The National Veterinary Accreditation Program (NVAP) has been updated to help meet the demands of a global market and emerging disease threats. This enhanced program helps strengthen accredited veterinarians’ understanding of their critical roles in the surveillance of foreign and emerging animal diseases as well as increase their knowledge on current animal health issues. Veterinarians will need to pursue APHIS-approved supplemental training to renew their accreditation every three years. With this goal in mind, two hours of APHIS-approved supplemental training will be offered at CVC Washington, D.C. by attending one of the following sessions: Module 1: Introduction to the new National Veterinary Accreditation Program Module 2: Role of agencies (state, federal, international) and health certificates Module 3: Foreign animal diseases, program diseases, and reportable diseases Module 4: Preventing disease introduction and spread Module 5: Vesicular diseases Module 6: Exotic avian diseases Module 7: Foreign animal disease detection in Category 1 animals Module 19: Animal health emergency response Christian Veterinary Mission Christian Veterinary Mission seeks to help veterinarians serve others and live out the Christian faith through their profession — while changing lives and communities by improving the care of livestock and other animals.
