You need training for the marathon of a career in veterinary medicine. And at Fetch in San Diego, you can start your recovery from perfectionism and imposter syndrome. (You really are enough. You need to believe it, too.) Get back in touch with joy and job satisfaction. Like, now.
A number of studies show that veterinarians are at a higher risk for depression and suicide than the general population and even other healthcare professionals, so it’s clearly imperative that we keep wellness top of mind and arm veterinarians and veterinary team members to care for themselves and manage the inherent stresses of the profession.
You likely feel those pressures. Clients with ill pets are stressed and sometimes take it out on you. The economy can be stressful. The demand for performance can be stressful. Terminating life and being bummed out about that is stressful. And then practitioners often feel they’re expected to know everything and always be available.
Because we think these issues are so critical, you’ll find support at every Fetch conference. Sessions where veterinary professionals talk openly about the challenges of the profession and the solutions they use to stay centered. Opportunities to invest in your physical and emotional health.
And at every Fetch, we partner with the Vet Confessionals Project, to give you an opportunity to get something off your chest. If you’re not ready to stand up in a room and talk about an issue that’s weighing you down, you can share it anonymously though the project. And when you look at the others that have been submitted, you will clearly see that whatever it is you’re feeling, you are not alone. (There are also lots of funny secrets, so the other side of the project is that it gives you a chance to laugh.)
Most veterinary professional attend continuing education events for the CE credits. But we believe when you come to Fetch, getting information about these critical issues and the tools to manage the stresses of your life are even more important than the learning you do to help others. Please join us, and make an investment in your happiness.
