There’s so much exceptional education up for grabs at Fetch that you choose from between 10 and 15 options every hour. (Delivered by 70+ amazing veterinary educators, who work hard to be smart AND engaging. No easy task.) All that CE gold means you can put together the perfect program to achieve your personal educational plan.
Don’t have that plan all scoped out yet? Here are four paths that you could take through the abundant offerings at any Fetch conference:
The headache solver
Think about the five most recent cases that sent you to google, groping for reference books or seeking a colleagues advice—and the interpersonal issue that’s got your griping to your significant other while you glug down a glass of wine. (Yep. That one.) Then browse through the sessions and pick the ones that offer up solutions to those particular pain points. (They’re on the list. And if you don’t see them, email us, and we’ll make a suggestion.)
The locus of focus
Pick one area of practice that you enjoy most—or struggle in most. Attend everything we’re offering in that area + at least one session that focused on communication and/or client compliance. And then spend a little more and have lunch with an expert or attend a lab to get even more skills or confidence. The goal: Go back to work feeling better armed and ready to take it to the next level.
We find that practitioners naturally gravitate toward technical, clinical sessions. And you obviously need to make sure you’re on top of new medical approaches and building new skills. But no matter your role in the practice, you likely have the same opportunity to get stronger in the areas of communication, leadership, or strategy. Your investment in these areas can mean better care for pets in ways that are at least as significant as more technical smarts, because you’ll learn how to get more cooperation from all those pesky people in your life. (Which could really increase your job satisfaction. Just saying.)
So, spend some time working ON yourself and the practice (not just IN the crush of the day) and attend management and leadership sessions with the same eager-to-learn mindset that you’d take to dermatology sessions. (Gaining soft skills may actually be harder can mastering the next level of clinical know-how for you well-educated medical superstars.)
